Born in Mataró, a town close to Barcelona,
I always thought that images felt at your own pace
and at ease, without the constraints of everyday
schedules, were the ones capable of stirring something
in you.
Eventually, and thanks to the course of my life
having been fortunate enough, I moved to the sort
of region I had always wanted to spend my leisure
time in.
Today, I am most of the time surrounded by nature
and unbounded horizons. However, strangely enough,
I have come to realize that towns, villages or wherever
I may be, are all a suitable source of creativity,
providing endless insights into beauty. In my case,
the fulfilment of my early aim, that of living in
the countryside, made possible the almost obsessive
activity of photographing the natural world in film.
The equipment is most important, yet more important
still is to be acquainted with it in such a manner
as to be able to use it intuitively, as if it were
an extension of our body.
After years of exposing film, and lately of lugging
along a middle sized equipment, I have eventually
surrendered almost unconditionally to digital photography.
This medium, unlike film, offers a wide range of
editing possibilities, even though this certainly
involves much more work. Other aspects to take into
account are its instant availability, work flow
possibilities and today's great quality of digital
images.
As to the lenses I use, they range from 12 to 500
millimetres. The additional equipment: hard disc,
laptop computer, plenty of batteries and chargers,
tripods, flash lights and other such devices fitting
the quirks of a rambling photographer, eventually
amount to carrying a weight similar to the one I
used to carry.
